Career Highlights

California Brazil Camp and elsewhere, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 Kim accompanied master teacher Roseangela Silvestre of Bahia, Brazil in several workshops including Orixa’s dance movement and Silvestre Technique.

International Sound Healing Conference, Santa Fe New Mexico, 2006, 2007, 2008 Kim accompanied singers and presented his rhythm work at this four day gathering of the most prominent researchers and practitioners in the field.

San Francisco Financial District, September 2004 Kim and Carnaval Sprit Drummers and Dancers paraded through 3 floors of the new McCann World Group headquarters in an opening ceremony and energetic cleansing of the new workspace of one of California’s largest businesses.

EarthDance Festival, September 2004 Kim performed with Micky Hart and Planet Drum facilitating over 4500 drummers in the worlds largest drum circle for world peace at the annual Earthdance Festival, held simultaneously in several cities around the world and simulcast on the world wide web.

Lazer Percussion Orchestra, December 2001 Kim MCd and facilitated drumming at a free outdoor public gathering in the town square of Sebastopol CA. The evening featured multiple lazer projections by Cherry Optical, Lazer Dreams and friends, Gongs by Nancy, fire pits and a drum circle. The entire event was offered as a prayer for World Peace and Unity.

Day of the Dead, November 2001 Kim and his new project ” Drummunity” presented their first public ritual honoring our revered ancestors, as well as all victims of terrorism.

Dance Theater of the Orisha, 1998 Kim and Carnaval Spirit with Anastasia Fischer debuted their original theater piece, a stage show of Afro Brazilian religious traditions with original music, choreography and costumes.

Olympics 1996 Kim worked with Micky Hart, Zakir Hussein, Giovanni Hidalgo and others in recording music for the opening ceremonies of the 100th Olympics, broadcast world wide to over 3.5 billion viewers.

Matanga Festival Santa Cruz, CA 1994. Kim performed with Master Djembe drummer Mamady Keita and 7 others at African music and dance extravaganza welcoming Mamady to Santa Cruz.

Ethnic Dance Festival, San Francisco, CA 1989 and 1990. Performed as percussionist with Escola Nova de Samba.

Carnaval de San Francisco grand parade 1986 through 1990 and 1992 with Escola Nova de Samba. Grand Champions 1988 and 1989.

“Brazilian Beat” numerous concert performances with popular Bay Area Brazilian Jazz Band, 1989 and 1990.

Men’s Day 1988 and 1989, St. John’s of Montclaire, Oakland CA. Accompany Poets and conduct musicians at annual gathering of 100 people to discuss Men’s issues.

Whole Life Expo San Francisco, Accompanied Poet/speaker Sheperd Bliss D.Mn. his presentation “Journey in the Male Wilderness”. Also at U.C. Berkeley

Shriner’s Game, Palo Alto. Kim performed with 70 other percussionists, 30 horns and 100 dancers in halftime pageant of nationally televised football game.

Neurolinguistic Programming, San Francisco CA 1987. Kim taught percussion and dance to 25 students of innovative mind/body discipline.

California Men’s Gathering, Conducted 25 drummers in workshop for 200 men with Sheperd Bliss D.Mn., and Peter Rosselli.

Caribbean Dance Classes, Accompanied Master Afro/Jazz dancer Wilfred Mark of Trinidad in several workshops.

Mozambique, 1987, 1988, and 1989. Kim was Musical Director for dance company of 25 presenting original choreography in six city funded free outdoor concerts in Santa Cruz, California.

Radiance Breathwork, Palo Alto CA. Accompanied dance leader Joanne Bailey in workshop for 150 students of innovative bodywork therapy.

Private Group Class, Kim conducted music and rhythm classes for 10 students of Mark Leher Ph.D., Ericksonian Hypnotist.

A Night with the Masters, Kim was Master of Ceremonies for show of African Music and Dance with Malonga Casquelourd and Babatunde Olatunji in Marin County, California.
